• • This name is used to refer to two different species of trees that are not native to Mexico and are currently scarce in La Ventosa. The first is <Moringa oleifera> of the Moringaceae family. This tree is known in Spanish as <San Jacinto> or <moringa>. It reaches a height of 8 meters and produces white flowers. Its fruit is a long, green pod that measures up to 30 centimeters in length. The second species is <Melia azedarach> of the Meliaceae family. Known in Spanish as <paraíso morado>, it reaches a height of 3 meters and produces lilac flowers and round, green fruit. Both species flower in March, during the dry season. The flowers of one of the species, possibly <Moringa oleifera>, are said to be edible and can be prepared in scrambled eggs. It is important not to confuse the two species, as <Melia azedarach> has been described by botanists as having toxic properties. Both species can be used for a body brush as part of a cure for fright. Other medicinal properties have also recently been attributed to them. To treat tooth inflammation, the leaves are broken up, soaked in alcohol and then placed on the inflamed part of the face.

Árbol que se conoce en castellano como San Jacinto o como moringa, de hasta 8 metros de altura, sus flores son blancas y sus frutos son vainas largas y verdes de hasta 30 centímetros de largo. La segunda especie es <Melia azedarach> de la familia Meliaceae. Este árbol se conoce en castellano como paraíso morado, alcanza una altura de 3 metros, sus flores son de color lila y sus frutos son redondos y verdes. Ambas especies florecen en marzo durante la época de sequía. Se comenta que las flores de una de estas especies son comestibles y se pueden preparar revueltas con huevos. Es posible que dicha especie sea <Moringa oleifera> pero es indispensable no confundir las especies pues <Melia azedarach> se describe en la botánica como una planta con propiedades tóxicas. Ambas especies se utilizan para ramear como parte de una cura de espanto. Recientemente se les han atribuído propiedades medicinales. Para el tratamiento de una inflamación dental, se rompen las hojas, se remojan en alcohol y se colocan la hojas empapadas en alcohol sobre la parte inflamada de la cara. [Spanish]
