In La Ventosa, these plants are considered to be parasites of the trees known as <yaga la guitu>. The name <luba' alambre> is also used to refer to <Bdallophytum americanum>, an herb of the Cytinaceae family. This herb does not produce chlorophyll and therefore has a yellow stem. Its flowers and leaves are tiny and black.
