• • This name is used to refer to at least two species belonging to two different families. These are abundant trees with durable wood that reach a height of 2.5 meters. The flowers of the <Exostema caribaeum> of the Rubiaceae family are white but turn brown over time. They have a pollen tube up to 2 centimeters long. The fruit of this species is brown and dry. In the case of <Amyris jorgemeavei> of the Rutaceae family, the flowers and fruit are smaller. These plants tend to be very fragrant when the leaves, stems or flowers are squeezed. In La Ventosa, both species are found only in the hilly regions known as El Merodio and El Eustaquio.
