• • Abundant creeping herb with a white flower that resembles a small, compact corncob, hence the name <guie' yaana>, meaning 'corncob flower'. There are considered to be two types. One is found in the mountains and its flowers are white (Amaranthaceae, <Gomphrena filaginoides>). The other produces a purple flower that is sold for decoration and is used along with <cempasúchil> and <cresta de gallo> to make flower arrangements for All Saints' Day.
