sapa ndu This name is used to refer to a variety of herbs from the Cyperaceae family that have a grass-like appearance. These herbs can be found all year round in humid areas near lagoons and rivers. Some species grow from a tuber (<Cyperus rotundus>) or subterranean stem (<Cyperus articulatus>) that is used in the preparation of a hair rinse. The rinse is made by grinding this part of the plant together with seeds from the <xcuaana biichi> plant and adding water to make a pasty substance.
