‘chambirina’, the largest species of ‘huapeta’-type fish, reaching 1m in length. This silvery fish has multiple long sharp fangs, 3-4cm in length, emerging from its mouth, similar to other ‘huapeta’ (<aakaari>) species, but its long body is somewhat rounder and bulkier than other ‘huapetas’, which tend to have quite flat, compressed bodies. Iquitos indicate that its name stems from the fact that the flesh of the torso of the fish contains a tremendous number of long, fine bones reminiscent of the fiber extracted from the <nɨɨ́kamɨ> (‘chambira’) palm
