        They cut the pandanus leaves and then scrape the midrib on the back of the pandanus leaf, and let it become flexible in the sun. When it is flexible, it is heated over the fire or boiled in saltwater. After that it is put into the sun to dry. The pandanus is bleached in the sun until it is white.
