    • Comment The plural object marker <ri> cross-references collective NPs in object function. Collective nouns like <kan> 'group', <Siapani> 'Japanese (people)' take the singular article of the 2nd class, but with respect to cross-references by object markers or imperfective aspect marker, they are treated like plural NPs.
